Practicing The "Golden Rule" And Learning To Be "Bucket Fillers"

Every year, I always discuss the "Golden Rule" with the kiddos, and how it is the most important classroom rule. We discussed what the golden rule should look like. The students really are practicing this, and being more conscientious about how they are treating others. I love it!

We read, Have You Filled a Bucket Today?, which is a great book for young children to discuss how to treat others. The book talks about how each person has an "invisible bucket", which is our feelings. Smiling, helping others, giving compliments, etc. are things to fill others' buckets and it in turn fills your own. However, bullies, being rude, leaving others out, etc. are all ways to be a "bucket dipper". Our class goal is to strive to be "bucket fillers" each and every day!
